Argentine stocks surge as U.S. stocks, crude rise
BUENOS AIRES Oct 17 (Reuters) - Argentine stocks jumped 5 percent in mid-afternoon trade on Friday, buoyed by gains on Wall Street and in crude oil prices.
The benchmark MerVal index .MERV was trading at 1,244.93 points at 1747 GMT, driven by energy-related shares. (Reporting by Jorge Otaola and Hilary Burke)
